Ekata
Ekata is a family martial arts and fitness facility in Valencia, CA (Santa Clarita Valley), built around Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do - taught with direct lineage - and Savate, a French kickboxing discipline led by a world champion instructor. Beyond martial arts, Ekata runs a full gym, a state-licensed childcare and after-school program, and adult classes spanning yoga, Tai Chi, and meditation. Owners Ed Monaghan and JoAnn Wabisca brought 95Visual on to untangle a scattered set of marketing systems, rebuild their brand messaging, and replace an aging website ahead of their biggest enrollment window of the year: back-to-school.
Ekata came to 95Visual carrying real financial pressure - Ed estimated the business was losing $20–30K a month to lead-tracking and CRM gaps before this engagement began. The objectives were to:
- Consolidate ownership of marketing accounts (CRM, analytics, ad platforms, social) that were scattered across a prior agency and personal logins
- Fix lead management by migrating off a third-party CRM sub-account onto Ekata's own system
Land on one clear, unified brand identity and message - internally, staff couldn't agree on a five-word description of what Ekata does - Clean up a social media presence that blended personal and business content
- Replace the existing website, which was templated, mostly non-unique content, and not ADA compliant - with a launch timed to the 2023-2024 school year
95Visual opened with a full systems audit: recovering ownership of Google Analytics, Search Console, Google Ads, Google My Business, and Meta Business Manager, several of which were split across accounts with no visible link between them or still tied to a departed employee.
A duplicate-content scan of the existing 89-page site found that only 21% of the content was unique - 14% was templated copy shared with over a thousand other martial arts sites, and 66% was generic boilerplate. That evidence became the basis for rebuilding rather than editing in place, since the outgoing vendor's contract claimed ownership of anything published on the old site.
From there, 95Visual ran its standard content-first process: a Deep Dive-style strategy interview, followed by simplifying a sprawling, age-and-program-mixed sitemap (Pandas, Dragons, Teens, Adult Fitness, Adult Jeet Kune Do, etc., all flattened under one menu) into two clear paths - Martial Arts and Fitness - each split into Kids, Adults, and Private Training. Blog was reframed as a "Resources" library, aligned with an educate-first content philosophy the client wanted to lead with.
On the systems side, 95Visual migrated the GoHighLevel CRM and its associated phone number out of the prior vendor's sub-account into Ekata's own, exporting existing lead data first as a safeguard. A separate social media audit benchmarked Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok against three local competitors and produced a content calendar, posting cadence, and platform-specific strategy to replace ad hoc posting.
Account access was more tangled than expected - the Facebook Page and Ads account lived under two different Meta Business accounts with no visible connection, a legacy partner from years earlier still had standing access to the Page, and Meta's own transfer tools repeatedly threw server errors during the handoff. 95Visual worked through it live with the client rather than over email, and flagged for Ed the accounts that still needed cleanup on his end.
Timeline pressure was real: back-to-school is Ekata's largest annual enrollment driver, so systems and CRM access had to be sorted first so lead flow wouldn't stall while content, brand, and design decisions were still being finalized in parallel.
4a. Highlights - A family-forward direction built on Ekata's existing brand palette (red, gold, black, white; Open Sans throughout) and real facility photography in place of the heavily background-removed staff photos on the old site. Navigation was simplified from a cluttered age/program mashup into two clean entry points - Martial Arts and Fitness - each branching to Kids, Adults, and Private Training.
4b. Features - Block-based page builder, dynamic schedule and pricing modules (update once, populate everywhere), team/staff management, blog/resources library, contact forms and newsletter signup, video embed blocks for YouTube-hosted facility and class footage.
As of the latest documentation, the project is in the mockup-review stage - homepage concepts have gone through multiple rounds of client feedback, with website architecture and wireframes approved and interior pages next. Domain and DNS access for the dev environment were still being finalized. A separate website training session is planned once the client's site of records for content ownership.
